When students are faced with a multiple-choice question on a music theory worksheet, the sheer volume of 21 possible letter-name answers can feel overwhelming, especially for elementary music students or beginners.
We heard you! We’re thrilled to introduce a highly requested new feature in our Worksheet assignments: "displayed options".
This update is a game-changer for differentiated learning, allowing you to create focused, distraction-free assessments that align perfectly with your daily music lesson plans.
The problem solved: focus on the fundamentals
Before this update, if you set an identification question in, say, G Major, the student was presented with every single possible note name, including sharps and flats not in the key! Now, you have complete control.
With our new filter, you can specifically select only the notes you want students to choose from. This means if you are teaching the diatonic scale of F Major, you can limit the answer choices to only F, G, A, B-flat, C, D, and E.

How custom answer filtering empowers your teaching
This seemingly simple filter unlocks powerful teaching strategies in your music classroom:
- Differentiated instruction: Instantly adjust the difficulty level. Give beginners fewer, simpler choices (like just the letter names in the tonic chord) and give advanced students more options.
- Targeted assessment: Ensure students are focusing purely on the concept you are teaching, such as identifying notes only within a specific key signature or scale, without the distraction of unrelated chromatic pitches.
- Reduce cognitive load: For younger students, less clutter on the screen means less stress and more successful learning experiences, allowing them to focus on the notes being presented.
- Efficient grading: Students provide clear, relevant answers, making your auto-graded music theory results more meaningful and actionable.
