The power of color in music education: boosting learning for all ages

Music is a language of patterns and connections. That's why Flat for Education leverages the power of color-coding to enhance music learning for students of all ages, from elementary school to high school, including those with special needs.

Why color-coding works

Color coding creates a bridge between what students hear and what they see. For beginning musicians, colors accelerate music theory comprehension. For experienced musicians, they aid in rapid identification of key and chord changes. For students with special educational needs, they provide a powerful multi-sensory tool.

To enable Boomwhackers: Layout settings → Noteheads → Boomwhackers → Apply!

Customizing noteheads – beyond Boomwhackers

Teachers can also create their own custom notehead colors in Layout settings → Noteheads → Custom. This allows for personalized learning, thematic color schemes, and accessibility adaptations.

Even more notehead customization

The Noteheads section also lets you embed note names directly inside noteheads, choose between Fixed Do or Movable Do for solfege syllables, and much more.
