For this month, Flatās latest music notation software challenge invites you to blast off into world of imagination and sound. Inspired by Jules Verneās legendary novel From the Earth to the Moon, this composition challenge is your chance to score one of the most daring journeys ever imagined.
We challenge you to transform the thrill of space travel into a musical narrativeāfull of innovation, tension, wonder, and lift-off. Whether you're writing for orchestra, synths, or solo piano, your creativity is the fuel that launches this adventure.

Compose a piece that captures the wonder, ambition, and spirit of From the Earth to the Moon.
Structure your composition with a clear emotional and narrative arc:
- Start groundedāsymbolizing Earth, tension, and the dream of liftoff.
- Build momentum with rhythmic intensity and harmonic thrust.
- Float into orbitācreate weightlessness with atmospheric textures and melodic openness.
- End with arrival, reflection, or triumphāthe final chapter of the voyage is yours to imagine.

- Original Works Only: Compose a new score using Flatāolder pieces or adaptations wonāt be accepted.
- Theme Alignment: Your piece must reflect the journey from Earth to Moon.
- Length: 1ā4 minutes.
- One Entry per Composer: No collaborations this time.

Submissions will be reviewed based on:
- Narrative Expression (30 pts) ā How well does your music tell a story?
- Creativity & Instrumentation (25 pts) ā Original textures, sounds, and use of your notation tools.
- Emotional Arc (20 pts) ā Does your piece move through space and feeling?
- Thematic Depth (15 pts) ā Does your score reflect the challenge's symbolic journey?
- Foundersā Enjoyment (10 pts) ā Weāll be looking for works that truly transport us.
