What happens when you invite hundreds of composers to embrace chaos, vengeance, and ambition? You get one of the most thrilling, theatrical, and wildly creative challenges we’ve ever hosted. 🎭⚡️
This August, we asked you to step into the mind of a supervillain—and score their anthem. The results were explosive.
From orchestral fanfares of menace to glitchy synthetic breakdowns, from guitar-driven showdowns to eerie villain waltzes, this challenge brought out some of the most original and daring compositions in our community. And once again, you delivered.
To every composer who submitted, thank you. We’re constantly blown away by your talent and imagination—and this month, the bar was higher than ever.
✨ Note on Highlights
For this challenge and going forward, we’re focusing our closing article on celebrating the top 10 scores that best represent the challenge's spirit and excellence in composition. While we won’t be publishing a separate “highlights” section, we see every entry and are grateful for your creativity, heart, and time. 💙 Keep composing—we’re always listening.

4. Spectacle by Robert O. Blong
Great bass doublings give weight to this almost purely orchestral piece, bursting with energy. Fanfare trumpets and French horns clash dramatically with delicate keyboards and strings, creating a vibrant and dynamic contrast.

A great choice of electro–big band instrumentation, well arranged and full of life. It feels like we’re meeting a villain who isn’t all that dangerous 🙂 We’d love to play the video game that this could be the soundtrack for.

A minimalist piece with a virtuosic guitar, heavy harmonies, and a brutal rhythm—a creative and musical way of making suffering felt.

Big sound, striking chords, and a dark, menacing atmosphere. Right up to the final chord, it feels like a journey.
